For History A Level, it’s all about balance

You must form and communicate an opinion throughout your answer, but you must also consider the other side, and analyse these points convincingly.

It’s not about memorising dates and heaps of content. You do need to know examples, and you do need specifics, but the key is understanding the concepts that accompany these - how events can cause others, or the consequences that occur as a result. You need to determine significance and be able to argue why an event is or is not fundamentally important to the time period.
